Wage: This internship is an unpaid position through June 30. After July 1, depending on performance, the position could become a paid position.
Job Description:
Assist with We the People, Project Citizen, and general civic education events, including the District and State Showcases; Assist in correspondence with the public about these programs; Contribute to all phases of event planning for We the People and Project Citizen Summer Institutes (training event for teachers); attend events as needed;
Contribute to all phases of event planning for the State Summit on Civic Engagement;
Work closely with the Civic Education Committee in planning for future We the People, Project Citizen and all general civic education events. Work with United States Congressmen and Congresswomen, as well as their staff members, on keeping them informed about the civic education programs in their districts.
Qualifications/skills required:
Interns must possess excellent communication skills and professionalism. Strong organization skills and attention to detail are essential. Computer literacy is necessary, especially Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Microsoft Publisher is a plus. Must be flexible to work in both a team environment, but independently as well, and able to multi-task and take initiative easily. Those with background or interest in education (specifically civic or citizenship education) public relations, marketing, journalism, non-profits and the legal sector are encouraged to apply, but the internship is not limited to a particular major or experience level.
