Evansville to Host National Mock Trial Championship in 2021

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Bar Foundation will host the 2021 National High School Mock Trial Championship May 13-15 in Evansville, Indiana. The organization originally won the bid to host nationals in 2020. However, this year’s tournament, previously scheduled for Evansville from May 7-9, was cancelled due to COVID-19.

The national competition will bring more than 900 visitors from across the United States, South Korea, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands to southern Indiana’s largest city.

“We were looking forward to what we had planned this May, but we understand the need to ensure a tournament that the students, coaches, judges and the family and friends who attend every year come to a healthy environment,” said Charles Dunlap, executive director of the Indiana Bar Foundation. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to put those plans into action for the 2021 championship.”

The high school mock trial program offers an innovative approach to learning the law and our legal system through civil and criminal trials, giving students the opportunity to develop an understanding and appreciation for the law, court procedures and the judicial system.
