Students Try Murder Case at Mock Trial State Competition

More than two hundred high school students from across the Hoosier state are traveling to Indianapolis March 7-8 to vie for the title of state champion of the annual Indiana mock trial competition.

This year, students will try a murder case involving an off-duty police officer and a man with a criminal past. Through four rounds of competition, students will alternate arguing as prosecution and defense to a panel of volunteer attorneys, judges, teachers and community members who evaluate their performance.

The top two teams will make their case in the championship trial at the Indiana Supreme Court with Justice Steven David presiding. The winning team will move on to represent Indiana at the national high school mock trial championship hosted in Evansville, Indiana May 7-9.

Students from the following high schools advanced out of their regional competition and earned their place in the state competition.
