Registration remains open for the 2021 Coalition for Court Access Annual Conference. The Friday, October 22 virtual (Zoom) meeting begins at 10 a.m. (ET) and concludes at 3:30 p.m. The conference offers a dynamic agenda with a cannot-miss opening plenary session with Indiana author Ruth Reichard discussing here book, "Blood and Steel: Ryan White, the AIDS Crisis and Deindustrialization in Kokomo, Indiana." There are five breakout sessions with relevant topics including corporate wellness, Indiana's eviction crisis, and more. The event fee is $25, including four CLE credits, or FREE if you are a civil legal aid/pro bono staff member or volunteer for one of Indiana’s civil legal aid/pro bono organizations. Foundation President and CEO Celebrates 20 Years With Agency
Indiana Bar Foundation (Foundation) President and CEO Charles "Chuck" Dunlap is celebrating his 20th year leading the Indianapolis-based organization. Dunlap has been instrumental in growing the 70-year-old agency into a nationally recognized leader in civil legal assistance and civic education. "Our future is bright. As the scope of our organization broadens, we foresee growth in the number of donors, supporters, and partners. I am excited and humbled by what the next 20 years hold for the Foundation," said Dunlap.
Pro Bono Opportunity Guide Now Available
Indiana Legal Help has developed the Pro Bono Opportunity Guide, a new volunteer matching tool for legal professionals and legal assistance providers. The guide invites legal assistance organizations from around the state to post volunteer opportunities on one central website. Now, legal professionals can easily search for opportunities across multiple organizations that match their time, location, and skill set. Mock Trial Diversity Initiative Presented by Krieg DeVault LLP
The Foundation has launched its High School Mock Trial Diversity Initiative, presented by Krieg DeVault LLP. This initiative seeks to to eliminate financial barriers to participation in the Foundation's Mock Trial program while providing schools mentors from the legal community. More than $45,000 has been raised from Krieg DeVault LLP, Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Lumina Foundation, Hall Render, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, Ice Miller LLP, Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP, Quarles & Brady LLP, and the Indiana State Bar Association's Health Law Section.
